"[The trustee] said the home school liaison position, which kept lines open with home schooling families in hopes students would enrol in the district, didn't prove fruitful.
"'There are more kids being home schooled than ever.'"
If that weren't so dumb, I'd be laughing.

Was this based on the assumption that maybe the homeschooling families didn't know about the school?
Didn't know about the school? I'm not sure if you're asking this with your tongue in your cheek, or not.
I don't know how that would be possible, considering how many local homeschooling parents probably attended public schools in the same district (or live around the corner from one).
Amazing! I had to link to you for this one:

Yes, of course I was joking. I can't understand what that trustee must have been thinking was going to happen hiring the liaison.
LOL! Too funny! :-)

Laugh Out LOUD!!!
That is the funniest thing I've ever read.
HIlarious! What else could the liaison do, when faced with the stark differences between the hs kids and the ps kids, but agree with the homeschoolers?
I think they decided to "cut" the liaison position because all their liaisons kept deciding to homeschool. :-P
"Their liaisons kept deciding to homeschool"--do you mean the liaison officer, or those with whom she liaisoned? Actually the last liaison person was both a teacher and a former homeschooler. About her predecessors, I can't say.
