I'm surprised

I'm surprised at the results of this quiz. I actually retook it, thinking that some of my middle-of-the-road answers might have skewed the results and that I should try to agree/disagree more definitely with more of the questions. However, so be it, in spite of the fact that of all the churches I've ever belonged to, none of them were Free Methodist.

(On the other hand: I did grow up in the United Church of Canada, which was originally formed out of Presbyterian, Methodist and Congregationalist churches; so I suppose, like it or not, that there was a fair amount of Methodist influence in there. There are quite a few "Wesley United Churches" out there. Also, the first time I took the quiz, the second three categories came out in a different order.)

What's your theological worldview?

You scored as Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan

You are an evangelical in the Wesleyan tradition. You believe that God's grace enables you to choose to believe in him, even though you yourself are totally depraved. The gift of the Holy Spirit gives you assurance of your salvation, and he also enables you to live the life of obedience to which God has called us. You are influenced heavly by John Wesley and the Methodists.

"Like it or not", eh? I chuckled when I read that. Just out of curiosity, what were you expecting or *hoping* you would turn out to be?

Interesting quiz.

Apparently, I'm Roman Catholic ;-)

Coffeemamma: well, at least we know it's not completely bogus then. :-D

Jacci: I was surprised mainly because I've never read more than brief biographies of the Wesleys and I can think of several other Christian thinkers who (I think) have had a more direct influence on my worldview. But also because, as I said, I've been part of several different denominations as an adult, so you would think those experiences would have more impact than what I half-listened to as a child. (We don't even have Methodist churches around here, except for one lone Free Methodist holdout I can think of; most Methodist churches in Canada joined the United Church years ago.)

I guess I would have expected something more like "reformed evangelical" to get top billing. But I don't think the "Wesleyan" thing sounds like such a bad description; I can live with that.

I have your "Reformed Evangelical" though I'm not certain what reformed doctrine is. I had to look up the names--am I in a church backwater or are they known only in select circles?

I was surprised to find that I am 82% Weslyian Holiness. I've only ever attended a methodist church once or twice when I was very little. Too young to be influenced by it's doctrine. This was an interesting quizz. Thanks for sharing.

I took the test tonight. I think the wording was *very* difficult to get through. I went back and forth a lot thinking "if they mean this then this". In the end I came up 93% Reformed Evangelical and 86% Fundamentalist. Considering that we are members of a Reformed Baptist church, I'd say it's right on.

Just for clarification, "reformed" basically means Calvinistic.

Interesting quiz, Mama S. Thanks for sharing it.

Hmmm. After looking at the quiz, I believe it needs to be called "What's you Christian Theological World View." Those of us who are not Christians also have theological world views, but the questions on that quiz assumed that the taker is Christian at minimum. What do you do if your own answers to the questions fall outside of the agree-disagree range?

I guess I am still just a Jew.

Ah, well. Have a good advent season. You Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan, you! :)

Elisheva, you're right--obviously there are all kinds of other worldviews out there. I think there is already another quiz called "What kind of Christian are you?," so maybe they needed to come up with something else. I couldn't find anything to click on that even showed all the possibilities they were giving you, so I don't know how far it goes. Even within the Christian sphere, I think the quiz is fairly limited; just for instance, where would Lutherans fit into it?

And thanks for the holiday wishes--you have a great Thanksgiving too.

I don't exactly understand my result. It doesn't appear that my denomination is included but perhaps is called by some dismissive phrase. No matter, really.

Those readers looking for a quiz that addresses faith in a broader view might do well with Beliefnet's BeliefoMatic. It pegged me right on, which amused me greatly, and also challenged me to greater thinking about what I *thought* I knew about other faiths. Very nicely done, in my opinion.

Thanks, Marsha--I'll check that out.
