Life at $250 dollars a barrel

Can you imagine a world where oil becomes so expensive that almost all areas of our lives are changed? If oil ever hits $250 a barrel--as some predict it might--we could see a boom in homeschooling, the end of tropical fruit imports, and "parking lots transformed into agricultural lots." (If you ever saw that rather nasty movie Soylent Green, you'd remember one lady (with underground connections) eating $150-a-jar fruit...)

It might not be science fiction.

I'm beginning to feel the same way I did after 9/11. Life is changing as we knew it!

Well, the price of oil/gas would be bad; anything higher than the current would be bad ... but I think that perhaps many of the changes would be of greater benefit. People in the US seem to be changing in some ways due to the current rise in prices of everything from gas to food to housing/real estate to energy ... with time, perhaps these new (better ?) Habits (CM) will be formed. Who knows where it will lead ?!?!

Remaining Hopeful-
