It was on my library list. I got halfway through it and decided that my life is too short to add that much ugliness to it. Pick any nasty shocking revolting thing, it's in the story.
Apologies to Michael Ondaatje. He's famous. He taught Creative Writing at York University. He's won the Booker Prize. This novel won the Governor-General's Literary Award.
I still didn't like the book.

Good to know, as I am an avid reader. Had to read an Ondaatje book in university and didn't like it either.
