I *know* that I am not required to have my kid read everything. But I also know that much smarter people than me have thoughtfully selected the readings for reasons that I can only imagine at this point (and with very few exceptions, I have seen the wisdom of the readings in previous years), so I feel a certain need to keep up with the program (I've done it since Y2, so I'm no novice). I thought Y7 was a big step up, but Y8 -- wowza.
