Thrifted jackets

Last year I called this page "End of Winter"; but this year I'm feeling more optimistic and hoping for an actual Spring. Birds! Flowers! No March blizzards! (There's usually at least one surprise snowstorm.)

Some clothes I had expected to pull out this spring, that were on every tentative list, suddenly didn't make the cleanout cut. I had a size-six grey dress I thrifted last fall, that I finally admitted was too tight for comfort. Another print dress had had its day. A denim shirt, that I wore as a jean jacket, just felt done. A skirt that didn't have enough of a waistband to stay up properly: time to say goodbye. At least letting go is easier if you haven't put much money into it.

But I've found good, "keeper" things, too. At the end of last year, I bought an oversized, tapestry-fabric jacket, in a pattern of mostly warm colours. Recently I replaced it with a similar jacket (same price, $2) with more purple and plum tones in it, and not lined, which makes it less bulky. I also found a zippered sweatshirt to replace the jean jacket.

The Clothes

Number of items: 35 (not counting coats, shoes, or accessories)

This is Project 333. Why do I have more than 33? Because I am not as good as some people at minimalism, especially when it comes to jackets and scarves. But this seems to be my "right" amount of clothes.

Where did the clothes come from? Many of them are from a Mennonite Central Committee thrift store. Some came from another thrift store or a consignment shop; a few were bought new.

I love how well you reflect the color and the feeling of "your" painting - that's beautiful!
