Simplicity quote for the day

"When decluttering is frustrating, or you regret spending too much, or you aren’t sure where this whole simplicity journey is headed, remind yourself that you aren’t creating a simple life, you are creating a life."
~~ Courtney Carver, "A Simple Life is Not the End Goal" at BeMoreWithLess

Is that a Crissy doll I spy? Is it yours? I still have mine--I used to do her hair over and over when I was a little girl.

BTW, is everything okay over at the Common Room, do you know? I can't get on their blog anymore since a little while after they go the orphan boys, and I'm kind of concerned. You have rarely seen me here on your blog, I know, but I am a frequent reader there.

Yes, that's my daughter's (1972) Crissy. We bought it for her several years ago from Ebay. I had a Crissy myself from that time, but she didn't survive. This photo is from a couple of years ago, when Lydia set up a doll lemonade stand in the back yard.

I will let the Common Room know you asked about them. I have trouble loading their blog sometimes too, but I think it's just a glitch.

Thanks!
That Crissy looks like she's in good shape. :) Fun!

The Ebay seller claimed Crissy was from a smoke-free home, but she arrived smelling strongly of cigarettes. After trying several suggested remedies without success, time was getting short (Crissy was supposed to be a Christmas present). My husband found a liquid cleaner that he thought would take most of the odour away, but he didn't want to risk doing it at home and giving away the surprise. He was doing I.T. work in an office at the time, so if you can picture the I.T. guy in the breakroom kitchen, giving the Crissy doll a bath...well, it was worth it!

That is a very funny mental picture. :) I'm glad it worked!
